If you’re attempting to give up smoking and have tried everything from patches to gum and full-on ‘cold turkey’, but to no avail, then vaping could be the method that cracks the habit once and for all.

Vaping refers to inhaling vapour produced by an electronic cigarette, fulfilling the habit of smoking, but without all of the harmful effects.

So, why could vaping be the thing that finally gets you to smoke your last cigarette? Read on to find out.

It Feels Like Smoking

The problem with lots of other methods of stopping smoking, such as nicotine gum and patches, is that you lose the physical act of smoking, which over the years, you’ll have grown very used to.

Smoking addiction isn’t just caused by nicotine but also because you get into such a routine of putting a cigarette in your mouth regularly.

When you’re using an e-cigarette though, you go through all of those same motions that you’re used to and maintain that familiar muscle memory, all without the harmful tobacco.

However, it’s not just the act of picking the cigarette up and putting it in your mouth. Vaping also gives you that tingly ‘throat hit’ sensation you get from inhaling smoke and it’s pretty much the only way to experience this sensation without actually smoking.

If you’re worried about the safety of vaping, just check out this article from NHS Choices, which finds that vaping is far safer than traditional smoking in the long-term.

It’s Cheap

Aside from going cold turkey, which isn’t the easiest thing to do, vaping is the cheapest method of stopping smoking.

Of course, the initial outlay of buying your e-cigarette is going to be higher than buying a pack of cigarettes, but over time you’ll start to see significant savings.

In fact, this article from the Telegraph suggests that vaping costs around £30 a month, in comparison to £200 or even £300 a month when smoking.

Of course, this does depend on the levels of your own personal use, but it’s clear that you can save a significant amount.

Flexibility

The downfall of other methods of quitting is that you ultimately have to reduce your nicotine content as you smoke less.

However, with e-cigarettes, you have complete control over how much nicotine you vape. If you want to slowly wind it down until you cut it out completely, you can do so at a pace that suits you. On the other hand, if you want to keep your nicotine at present levels, that’s fine too.

All e-liquid vendors will sell juices with various levels of nicotine (right down to 0mg), but around 18mg to 24mg is generally a good starting point if you’re smoking regularly.

And, it’s not just the nicotine content that you can be flexible with, but the flavour too.

Instead of mimicking the taste of normal cigarettes, e-cigarettes come in hundreds (if not thousands!) of different flavours.

If you can think of a flavour, there’s probably an e-liquid for it. Just check out this list from Cloudz Vapour, which gives you just a hint of some of the options out there.
