When seeking help to get over your drug addiction, it is not always easy to get the help you need.  A private addiction treatment program is often the best option for some people.  There are several steps you need to take in your attempts to recover from your addiction.

The process of addiction recovery is usually done in the following six steps:

  • The first step is the most important one; it is the realization that you have a problem with alcohol or drugs and admitting to yourself that you are ready to make a positive change in your life.
  • Decide which treatment program is right for you, whether it be an inpatient, outpatient, or  twelve-step program.
  • Reach out to your friends and family that are sober for their support. Creating a network of sober friends and family member is going to be useful when you start your treatment.
  • It is necessary that you learn how to control your triggers and cravings; you should also participate in an aftercare program to ensure you can maintain your sobriety.
  • Start to build a new life for yourself; this means choosing new hobbies and setting new life goals.
  • If you do have a relapse, do not get discouraged in your recovery; just make a plan to get back on track right away.

As long as you follow these six steps you should be on the right track to living a life of sobriety. While there are many treatment options, you may consider private addiction treatment.

Private addiction treatment does not guarantee the quality of the treatment plan.  However, it is your right to be able to choose which treatment plan is right for you.  Here are some of the treatment plans that are available to choose from:

  • Profit and not-for-profit private addiction treatment plans
  • State funded and locally funded programs
  • Low-cost rehabs
  • Free rehab and charity rehabs

Detox is only the first step in the long process of rehabilitation.  Studies have proven that the longer a person waits for treatment after completing detox, the bigger the chance that they will relapse.  Treatment needs to begin almost immediately following the detox period in order for rehab to be successful.

Whatever treatment plan you decide on to battle your addiction to alcohol, drugs, or both, ensure that you have a strong support system. You need family and friends that are going to help you avoid the triggers that make it hard to stay sober.

A private addiction treatment plan allows the person with an addiction the privacy to relax and work through any of the underlying reasons for the addiction without the pressure of sharing their room with another patient.  This may be a good plan when first entering a recovery program; however, after a while it might be a good idea to share some of your fears and anxieties about sobriety with a person that understands what you are going through.
